Electricity is part of our everyday life and is so common we barely notice it’s there. Even in situations where electricity poses a hazard, it may not be apparent. 

Designed for first responders, this course can help you identify electrical hazards and keep yourself and others safe in situations where electrical hazards pose a danger. Understanding the concept of  hazardous electricity and recognizing the risks associated with uncontrolled electricity and working around controlled electrical conductors, can help you identify the dangers. Knowing the best practices in a situation involving electrical hazards can help you to keep yourself and others safe in these situations.

When you have completed this course you will be able to:

  • Recall components of the electrical system.
  • Recognize electrical hazards.
  • List safe distances from controlled and uncontrolled conductors.
  • Identify planning activities for safe work.
  • Choose appropriate responses to electrical accidents and electrical diversions.
